Art Attic I

15 Fifteen-Minute Programs
Grade(s): Primary (2)
Curriculum: Art

Objectives:

  1. To introduce students to the common principles of organization and basic elements that the visual arts use to arouse the senses and the intellect.
  2. To encourage students to look and see, think about, mentally imagine, and produce pieces of art.
  3. To introduce students to the principles of design/organization (Harmony, Variety, Movement, Space, Balance) to produce order, and the elements of art (Line, Color, Texture, Shape, Value) to produce physical work.

Description:

An art room in the attic in combination with on-location segments introduces the students to many different items that can be used to create art items for display and play. In all cases, items used in the programs and in the suggested activities are items readily available to students at home or in school. The programs show the students "how to" and motivate them to want to continue or expand the activities after the class.
