Objectives:
- To introduce students to the common principles of
organization and basic elements that the visual arts use to arouse the senses and the
intellect.
- To encourage students to look and see, think about, mentally
imagine, and produce pieces of art.
- To introduce students to the principles of
design/organization (Harmony, Variety, Movement, Space, Balance) to produce order, and the
elements of art (Line, Color, Texture, Shape, Value) to produce physical work.
Description:
An art room in the attic in combination with on-location
segments introduces the students to many different items that can be used to create art
items for display and play. In all cases, items used in the programs and in the suggested
activities are items readily available to students at home or in school. The programs show
the students "how to" and motivate them to want to continue or expand the
activities after the class.
