| Basic Math for Auto
Technicians 4 Twenty Minute Programs Basic Math for Auto Technicians is designed to introduce fundamental concepts to students who may need remedial work. Each concept is explained with the assumption that the student needs to start at the beginning. Problems are introduced, solved, and then solutions are explained so that students can see how the math is used. Where possible, examples based on automotive mechanics or automotive themes are used to heighten interest in the material. The four-part series begins with an explanation of numbers and then introduces fractions and decimals. In later programs, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are demonstrated. The series is moderately interactive in that students are given problems and then asked to stop the tape while they do the work. Once the tape is restarted, the solution to the problem is explained. Math is difficult for many students under any circumstances, but remedial math may be the hardest of all. It is hoped that this series will help spark the interest of students whose professional advancement may eventually depend on their comprehension of basic math. Programs:
