BLOW THE ROOF OFF communicates the fun and excitement of science as various scientific concepts are illustrated, demonstrated, and tested. Using the "hand-on, minds-on" concept, fourth and fifth graders will:

  • approach commonplace happenings in their environment from this fresh new, perspective.
  • Develop positive attitudes and enthusiasm toward science.
  • Understand and engage in scientific inquiry.
  • Learn to make decisions and predictions that are evidence based.

The pre-broadcast activities in the teacher guide prepare students for viewing the videotape and the post-telecast activities serve as a reinforcement of the concepts presented in the videotape and provide an extension of the learning process into a variety of applications of the principles presented.

The last program of the series presents teachers and students with a multitude of every day "scientific apparatus" and ideas for inexpensive experiments to be conducted in the classroom or at home.
