Curriculum:  Technology

Teacher Guide:    A 4-6 page guide is in development which will contain a summary of the lesson, examples of how the internet can be used, and a vocabulary list of common internet terms.

The video, aimed at audiences who may not even own a computer, is a 30-minute, light-hearted, non-technical, yet information filled look at this recent technological and sociological phenomenon.

"With the coming release of relatively low-cost, network capable computers and increasingly user-friendly software, many people who could now afford to access the Internetfind themselves without the background information necessary to make informed decisions. " said Mitchell K. Hobish, PhD., a member of the New Realities Organization.

To provide information to this audience, the video uses state-of-the-art graphics and animatin and live talent to present the basic concepts underlying the Internet and its utility. The video discusses many of the Internet's basic features, such as e-mail and newsgroups, and introduces the concepts supporting the World Wide Web, that freeform repository of text, graphics, and sound. Real-world examples are provided of how this information may be obtained and used in personal and professional activities, and how people can get in touch with people around the globe, "...for the cost of a local telephone call".
