Objectives:

  1. To serve as the core for a primary science course.
  2. To motivate students to want to learn more and to conduct their own studies.

The series was designed to introduce children to "key" generalizations about their environment and the living things in it, and to motivate them to conduct additional classroom and individual activities to add substance to these generalizations. The lessons, each designed to introduce a two-week unit of study, include on-site clips illustrating the concepts. The teacher guide provides directions to construct various items for classroom activities to reinforce the desired concepts.
