Science Corner

30 Twenty Minute Programs
Grade(s): 3rd
Curriculum: Science

Objectives:

To introduce students to the process of scientific observation, including experimenting, predicting, inferring, testing predictions, measuring, grouping (classifying), and communicating information.

The-series was designed to serve as a basal science program with textbooks and other material as supplements or it may also be used to enrich and supplement an existing program. Each program in the six modules - Animals, Human Body, Plants, The Universe, The Earth, and Making Work Easier - contains on-location segments to more clearly illustrate the concepts being taught. In addition to the usual information in the teacher guide, the follow-up activities are presented on three levels: Observers, requiring little or no reading; Explorers, on-grade level reading; Researchers, enrichment level.

Each lesson is cross-referenced with eight different science textbooks (Ginn, Laidlaw, McGraw-Hill, Harper & Row, American Book Co. Rand McNally, D. C. Heath, and Silver Burdett).
