| Under the African Sun 7 Thirty Minute Programs This series starts with prehistory to the violence of the 20th. Century, by showing black South African Art and how it reflects the many diverse influences on the native peoples and cultures of South Africa. It points out how the need to display and exercise inhumane treatment of black South Africans gave rise to Township Art. Continuing with the "Carvers" who expressed their themselves with the traditional woodcarvings. The turbulence continued into the 1980's and it saw an outpouring of black artistic expression. The series points out how black South African women artists discovered new avenues of expression. Continuing up to the present, the series shows how the political and social changes in South Africa inspire many Black African Artists to record their people's suffering and growth through art work.
