Objectives:

  1. To identify the sources of urinary tract infections
  2. To state the three modes of bacterial entry into the urinary system
  3. To state the Golden Rules of Care for the catheterized patient
  4. To identify what can be done to reduce urinary tract infections

The program discusses the sources of infection and modes of transmission in urinary infections while presenting an overview of the urinary infection rate. The program illustrates when catheterization is needed, how to maintain the catheterization system in an infection free way. In addition, the program discusses alternatives to catheterization and what can be done to decrease urinary tract infections.
